The more I look at this painting, the deeper I go into its meaning. I am continually amazed by the way symbols and patterns can speak to us, revealing a message that is not always visible at first glance.

Now I would like to share the message hidden within this work.

At the very centre of the painting is Othala — the rune of ancestry, our connection to those who came before us and to the place from which we come. It represents our foundation, our inner support, and everything that is passed down to us through generations.

Algiz in its upright position represents spiritual Protection from Above. It seems to connect Heaven and Earth, creating a bridge between the Divine and the human.

Reversed Algiz reveals another aspect of this energy — the need to balance the Divine with worldly matters, the spiritual with everyday life, the higher with the earthly.

Inguz carries the energy of fertility, the masculine principle, growth and stability. It is the energy of creation and moving forward — when something that has been planted begins to grow and bear fruit.

Four Gebo symbols speak of energy exchange and the gifts we receive through our relationships with those close to us and with the world around us. It is the energy of reciprocity: what we give to the world and what we receive in return.

Gebo is connected with the element of Air — lightness, openness, communication and our ability to interact with the world. We express ourselves towards others in the way we would wish the world to respond to us.

And then there is another energy — Fire — the energy that warms, inspires and illuminates new paths.

It reminds us that there is always a choice on our life journey. There is always another road we can see, another path we can choose, another possibility waiting to be discovered.

And so, what may appear at first to be a simple pattern gradually becomes an entire story.

A story of ancestry, protection, connection, growth and freedom of choice.

Perhaps this is the true power of symbols: they are not simply placed on a canvas. They begin to speak to us when we are ready to hear them.
